I went into the garden to photograph flowers, especially the mass of colour from the beautiful roses. I was spoiled for choice between deep red shades to delicate pink and rich golden yellows to near white…an abundance of soft, gentle petals. Yet it was the simple green leaves of the crocosmia that grabbed my attention.
The strong light made the bright green leaves stand out dramatically against the dark shadows, criss-crossing eachother making some leaves descend into black and others highlighted to almost yellow.
I love that amongst all these straight lines and sharp angles each blade ends in a gentle curve.
