One daylily at a time

My interest in photography began when I was 20 years old with shots of the natural world mostly. I’ve always loved flowers not only because they’re beautiful with wonderful colours and shapes but also, they don’t run away!

The structure of a flower is impressive, such strength from such delicacy and I enjoy another contrast too – the rich colour of petals and leaves in bright sunlight with deep dark shadows nearby. This daylily in Kimberley Park in the centre of Falmouth is a fine example.

It’s another subject with a transitory nature…in moments the sun would move off this flower and in a day the flower itself would be over.
