Carrying a camera around certainly makes you look differently at everyday objects – like this old watering can. Yes it’s quite a pleasing shape and it’s functional but you wouldn’t really think of it as a work of art.
But look more closely and it has an amazing surface, lots of textures and colours that make an interesting photograph. The patina is really special – all those interlocking shapes and subtle tones.
I think this image will make a beautiful splashback and fabric.
It’s nice to think some things get better with age!
