Elemental Cornwall

Polurrian Cove foam
Polurrian Cove foam
This image captures everything about Cornwall for me. The county is perhaps known most for it’s beautiful beaches and mining heritage. Well Polurrian Cove on the west of the Lizard peninsula is certainly a beautiful beach and the minerals in the sand are all about the rock and geology of the place.

The image is the foam left just for a moment as a wave reaches its highest line and starts to recede. It’s gone in a breath.

I find the transitory nature of the subject interesting as well as the patterns that form and then disappear. It also encapsulates all the elements – earth (sand), air (the bubbles in the foam) and water (the sea) so it’s my choice as the first image in this ‘behind the scenes’ feature.
